LOOSE HELMET

Hailing from the heart of Houston, TX, Loose Helmet burst onto the scene in 2022 with a fierce DIY spirit and a sound that refuses to fit neatly into any one box. Formed in the same year, they released their raucous demo, quickly followed by their self-titled album in 2023, cementing their place in the underground punk scene.
Self-proclaimed “punk rock idiots,” the band blends the raw, rebellious energy of punk with the experimental edge of post-punk, art-punk, and an ambitious reach toward Avant-punk territory. With each live show, Victor Martinez (vocals/guitar) channels a larger-than-life persona, his voice dripping with expression and exaggeration that draws you in and demands your attention. When Victor slips on his tiny black sunglasses, you know the show is about to explode into pure chaos.
The band’s sound is as unique as its members. Victor's angular guitar work navigates between the dissonant melodies of Sonic Youth and the twangy intricacies of The Ventures. Behind the kit, Nate Glenn delivers a drumming performance that is a machine-like force; once the rhythm starts, it doesn't stop. His relentless energy drives the band forward, propelling the music with intensity. Holding it all together is Chase Wagner on bass, who lays down a heavy, groove-laden foundation that ties every sound together with perfect precision, accentuating the unique interplay between the guitar and drums.
Rounding out the sonic landscape is Rex Von Pohl on keys, whose otherworldly tones could have easily been lifted from the halls of the USS Enterprise itself, adding a futuristic, almost eerie vibe to the band’s sound. Their music feels like it could soundtrack a '60s surf movie—except in this version, the characters are devoured by sharks while the band plays on, fearless and unstoppable.
A Loose Helmet performance isn’t just a show—it’s an experience. Their energy is infectious, their sound is thrilling, and their wild unpredictability keeps you on your toes. If you’re looking for an unfiltered, high-octane live show full of punk rock madness, don’t miss the chance to see Loose Helmet—they’re not just a band, they’re an event.
